PALBONG POTTERY. Origins and transitions
Palbong Pottery were made and distributed traditional pottery by the first ( Park Joon Seok Senior) and the second generation ( Park Bok Rae Senior), while Park Chang Junior, the third generation, and Park Gwang Cheol and Park Hye Ja, the fourth, are studying traditional pottery and Buncheong.
Although it has not been destroyed and preserved now, the first generation represented by Park Joon Seok began making pottery in Onggi Village, Palbong-ri, Iksan-gun, Jeollabuk-do in the past. Even before Japanese colonial era, Park Chang Junior thought that pottery was already a great business handed down by his grandfather as a family business, and began to inherit the traditional family line of pottery making.
Palbong Pottery was originally located near Geumsansa Temple, but in 1998, it moved to the current location to promote ceramics and transformed into a pottery learning institution. Since then, potter Park Chang Junior, who has been on a single path for 40 years to make pottery, has also handed over his family business to his son and is currently dedicated to reproducing Baekje earthenware.
Palbong Pottery Pottery is currently being carried out by Park Kwang Chul for the fourth generation.
